Southern Italy, which for may a years has been uncharted territory for golf travel and tourism, seems to have emerged from the shadows with 5 excellent courses. One notable example is San Domenico, which has been designed by "European Golf Design" with inescapable reference to links-style courses. Located between olive trees and Adriatic sea, it hosts periodically the most prestigious golf competitions. 

Going more south, where Greece and Norman occupation is still very present, Acaya Golf  has just been reopened. It is a pretty layout designed by David Mezzacane with a brand new Double trees Golf Resort. To be played all year in a warm climate.
